Maternity Services

If you find out you are pregnant, you should let the maternity team know when you are approx. 6-8 weeks pregnant (2-4 weeks after your missed period). You can do this by completing the online form which can be found within this link: Booking your pregnancy with Cardiff and Vales UHB Maternity

The named midwife for this surgery is Jenny Cox.

The ante-natal clinic is held every other Friday at 9.00 am.

The role of the midwife is to provide advice, support and care throughout your pregnancy, childbirth and post-natal period.

Once you have confirmation of pregnancy, it is beneficial to you and your baby to book with the midwife as early as possible. Please ensure that you are taking Folic Acid either in pregnancy or as soon as you think you may be pregnant. Early pregnancy care is essential. Diet, information regarding the risks of taking non-prescribed substances (including over the counter medication), smoking and alcohol consumption can be discussed during your pregnancy.

The midwife would also like to discuss the type of maternity care available. Depending on individual assessments, some maternity care may require hospital visits and some may only require visits to the surgery.

During the post-natal period, the GP will not conduct house calls unless there is a medical indication.

The midwives can be contacted at the ‘Midwifery Led Unit’ where a message can be left for them when they are not on duty.
